The goal was to distill the Nixie clock to its essence—highlighting the natural beauty of the tubes while eliminating anything non-essential. The result was the Puri Nixie Clock, a minimalist design where the tubes take center stage.
Tougher Than They Look
The tubes may look delicate, but they’re securely seated in their sockets and far more durable than they appear. If replacement is ever needed, they can be safely removed and swapped without any exposure to high voltage. The clock is designed for effortless servicing—if you ever need to.
Cool and Efficient
Although nixie tubes glow brightly, they produce no heat. The light comes from a cold-cathode gas discharge—a highly efficient process where electricity excites the gas around the digits, converting most of the energy directly into light. As a result, the tubes stay at room temperature, and the entire clock typically consumes just 7 watts. Always cool to the touch, even after hours of operation
